Pluto Press
Founded in 1969, Pluto Press is one of Britain’s oldest radical publishing houses. Since its foundation, Pluto Press has been proudly independent and internationalist, publishing books on sociology, politics, history, cultural studies, economics and geography. Their books often disagree with one another, but always express a critical solidarity. This approach has allowed Pluto Press to be a platform for revolutionary ideas and debates at the forefront of social and political change
Over the decades, Pluto Press has maintained its independence and radical ethos, focusing on critical and often dissenting perspectives across disciplines. This commitment to intellectual diversity and critical dialogue is evident in their impressive roster of authors, which includes seminal thinkers and activists like bell hooks, Edward Said, Frantz Fanon, Cedric Robinson, Karl Marx, Noam Chomsky, Kojo Koram, Augusto Boal, Vandana Shiva, Lola Olufemi, Suhaiymah Manzoor-Khan, Tithi Bhattacharya and Micha Frazer-Carroll.
In addition to its rich history of publishing, Pluto Press also owns the Left Book Club, a subscription service that brings radical, progressive books directly to readers. Originally founded in 1936 to promote anti-fascist and socialist literature, the Left Book Club was relaunched in 2015 to continue its of opposition to war, inequality and fascism.
Pluto Educational Trust was established in 2010 to safeguard Pluto Press from corporate takeover and continue the tradition of radical publishing for years to come,
